ABOUT
Hey there, I’m Meryth - An artist from New Zealand. My main artworks feature New Zealand native birds (they are such characters!), and I also do a range of other creative pursuits such as dressmaking & jewellery design.
I grew up in New Zealand, then travelled the world for many years - spending 5+ years working in the tailoring industry in London (Savile Row and Alfred Dunhill), then 2 years in Kazakhstan (yes that is right!) studying, teaching and creating art. I travelled the world at the same time, seeking out beautiful culture and art from just about anywhere!
These days I spend most of my time watching, listening and drawing our precious local birdlife in the heart of Golden Bay/Mohua. This is a special spot for observing these colourful characters and gaining an insightful understanding of their place in our world.
After leaving high-school I studied various creative subjects, from film making to fine art, and fashion technology. I call myself a ‘multidisciplinary artist’, as I bounce from one artform to another to keep my work fresh.
I exhibit and sell my original art pieces and greeting cards locally in Golden Bay and also further South in Fox Glacier.
I'm also available to work on commissioned originals with individual clients as per request.
